Socially responsible business

We take responsibility for our people and our environment.

We find sustainable relationships with people important; a permanent appointment is the starting point for us. We train employees ourselves, offer internships and have already successfully completed many BBL (student work/study) programs. Our employment conditions are good and we ensure an optimal working environment.

If you want to know more about what it is like to work for us, visit www.aandebakbijeurosteel.nl.

As a production company in the metal industry, we attach great importance to safety and health. Our current safety protocols are based on the RIE updated in 2023, the general VCA guidelines and all safety guidelines prescribed by 5xbetter. 5x better was set up by the Metal Union and the Labor Inspectorate and focuses on specific hazards in the metal industry. At Eurosteel we have supplemented this with a number of very specific activities for Eurosteel. So we use our 8xbetter method.

We take the climate and environment into account as much as possible in our business operations. We have already made great strides in this regard in the past:

- Since 2012 we have been using heat-cold storage in the earth's surface. We use this to heat and cool 6,600 m² of factory space and 1,000 m² of office space. We have no gas heating and no traditional air conditioning. We heat and cool our entire building with only 80,000 kWh of electricity per year.

- Since 2015, we have exclusively purchased 100% green energy.

- Since 2018, our entire factory has also been equipped with LED lighting.

- Since 2020, we have been generating approximately 500,000 kWh of electricity per year with solar panels. We use approximately 800,000 kWh per year for our business operations.

- Our waste, mainly scrap, is separated and 99% recycled.

- We use as little packaging material as possible. We take this into account in our purchasing policy and when delivering our products. Products are transported loose or are delivered on reusable Euro pallets as much as possible.

Since July 1, 2024, Eurosteel is part of Lifco, in the Demolition and Tools division under the flag of the Kinshofer Group.

Just like Eurosteel, Lifco wants Corporate Social Responsibility. Lifco's overall sustainability goals are to reduce the group's negative impact on the environment and conserve the Earth's limited resources, create safe workplaces with fair working conditions and adhere to a high standard of business ethics.

For example, with a strong focus on sustainability across the value chain, Lifco can help reduce negative impacts on the climate and environment, increase resource efficiency and promote safer working environments, both in the short and long term. At the same time, the group's sustainability risks are reduced.

For Lifco, sustainability is also about making a positive contribution to society. Lifco contributes directly by paying taxes where value is generated and offering jobs with fair working conditions.

Lifco has grouped its key sustainability themes into three key strategic areas:

Less impact on the climate and the environment, motivated employees and safe workplaces, and healthy business operations. Progress in the three areas is monitored against quantified targets and indicators.

Less impact on the climate and the environment by limiting waste and recycling as much as possible. By limiting greenhouse gas emissions and by working as energy efficiently as possible.

Motivated employees and safe workplaces through strict compliance with the Lifco Code of Conduct, a safety-oriented policy with regard to the prevention of workplace accidents and the prevention of work-related absenteeism. Striving to retain people and ensure low turnover among our own employees.

Healthy business operations through strict compliance with the Lifco Code of Conduct, for employees but also for suppliers. Ensuring a working environment where the core values of respect and openness are guaranteed. Ensuring IT security and care regarding the protection of personal data. Delivering high product quality with high product safety for the end user.

It is clear that we will join forces with Lifco and continue to realize our objectives. You can find the Lifco rules of conduct here.
